Huayhuash to Jahuacocha trek 4 days

Time: 4 or 5 days Huaraz to Huaraz
Grading: Medium

For those with limited time who would like to enjoy the grandeur of the massive Cordillera Huayhuash peaks, we offer a short 4 or 5 day high altitude trek.
The exciting short trek features crossing a high pass close to the highest mountain in the Cordillera Huayhuash range and two nights camping at beautiful Laguna Jahuacocha.

This is a physically demanding trek at high altitude. On the first day hiking you climb to the top of a 4750m pass. You do need to be a strong hiker and already well acclimatised to the altitude to enjoy this trek.
We can offer a horse trek option for those who would like to experience the majesty of the Cordillera Huayhuash but who feel they may struggle with the high passes.
This short trek and stunning location at Laguna Jahuacocha is a great place to celebrate a special occasion – a special birthday, anniversary or honeymoon. Our crew will make sure that you have a happy time and go home with very special memories.

Day 1: We drive from Huaraz to Llamac and then on to our camp site at Quartel Huain (4200m) 6 hours drive. We camp amongst pleasant rolling grassy hills at the bottom of Sambuca / Rondoy Passes.

Day 2: We make a long traversing ascent to the Rondoy Pass (4750m) from where there are breathtaking close views of the nearby highest Huayhuash peaks. Descend past a glacial lake, Solteracocha, and then on to the beautiful Laguna Jahuacocha and our camp (4150m). A hard day – 7 hours.

Day 3 & optional day 4: We stay extra day(s) at Laguna Jahuacocha. Day hike up to the Yaucha Pass to take a look at the western side of the Cordillera Huayhuash range or head up the Quebrada Rasac valley to a glacial lake. Or you could enjoy a rest day in the beautiful setting or maybe try trout fishing

Day 4 or 5: The final pass Pampa Llamac 4500m and a long descent to Llamac. 5½ hours. Return to Huaraz in our private van

A demanding but fantastic days hiking.
